Plagiarism, Damned Plagiarism….and Black-Footed Ferrets

a.k.a. BFF: Ferrets, also for Christmas 

 Once upon a time a reader associated with the blog Smart Bitches who love Trashy Books (a.k.a. SBTB) found some suspiciously familiar and somewhat stilted passages in a romance book by the prolific author Cassie Edwards.  A rather large plagiarism scandal developed from there and if you want to see the whole story it would be best to go to the source.

One of the plagiarised passages related to the endangered Black Footed Ferret (a.k.a. BFF).  And out of a desire to get something positive out of the whole kerfuffle the romance community was encourage to donate to a program devoted to saving the black-footed ferret from the very real threat of extinction.

Right now the good folks from Prairie Wildlife Research have a special deal so that if you make a donationof $50 or more you get a special edition ferret plushie.  Being the shallow sort I have emailed them back asking for a photo of a plushie.  (After all, a bribe works better if you let the mark see it)  :)

Over the past months I had spent a lot of time watching a live ferret cam of Mom-ferret Georgia and her little boy Peanut who was born in captivity, maybe a few of you did too?  Apparently Georgia is heading for a life in the wild soon.  You can now see some footage of a Mom-ferret in the wild looking after the next precious generation here, and there is a new ferret reality TV star called Tilly.

If you hate plagiarism, support ferrets. (The segue may be tenuous, but the cause is worth it no matter how you look at it.)
